“We haven’t got time to try it since last time we bought it from you。” answered Lisa in Chinese； “Now we are about to have a try。”
As Aldo directed me into the shop； I looked around and saw a good supply of kites which are hung from the high ceiling and fastened on the walls。 Kites in the shop are available in great varieties such as kites in the forms of a dragon； a butterfly； or a character in Chinese classical works like the “Monkey King”。
Noticing I was fixing my eyes on “Monkey King”； the shopkeeper smiled： “You are interested in these kites； aren’t you？”
“Yeah；” said I eagerly； “but they are too childish。”
The shopper laughed； “Wanting something more mature； er？ This way； please。” Then he led me more deeply inside the shop。 Now the kites on sale were much gloomier。 I was quickly attracted by a special kite in the shape of two phoenixes with the Chinese character which meant “auspicious’ on their breast。
“It is called ‘Double phoenixes paying respects to double auspices’。” Said the shopkeeper； admiring his handcrafts； “Over there are ‘Legendary Lovers Cowherd and the Girl Weaver Meet Annually on Bridge Formed by Magpies’ and ‘108 Heroes of the Bush on Mount Liang Shan’。”
From the shopkeeper I knew that kites can be divided into several kinds such as kites in the shape of plank and kites with soft wing。 The lift part of kites with soft wing is made of only one strip。 The lower part of the wing is soft； which is not reinforced with another strip。 The main part of the framework is mostly made into the shape of a relief sculpture。 This suits birds and insects such as eagle； swallow； crane； phoenix； mantis； cicada； etc。
Flying kites（2）
“Time to go； clara。” Called Aldo； who mysteriously disappeared beside me just now； holding a bottle of orange juice which he believed was rich in vitamin C。
“OK； I’m ing。” said I。 Taking my steps at a run towards Aldo； I asked： “what are the shapes of your kites？”
“One is an aeroplane；” answered Aldo； beckoning me outside the shop； “as for the other； maybe it is a bee。”
“Maybe？” I asked in bewilderment。 “So you are not sure？”
“Well；” Aldo shrugged； “because I have several kites at home and I can’t recognize them since they are wrapped in bags。”
I nodded in agreement while we were heading towards the park。
After placing our things under the statue of a clock tower； Aldo began to untie a purple slender kite bag and unfolded the black kite which was an aeroplane。 I held the kite for him while he was busy searching the bag for two more plastic bars which was used to reform the folded kite into its original shape again。 Aldo finally found the bars and made the kite flat and strong。
Now the kite was done。 It seemed so eager to fly in the sky and it made me feel as if I were going to fly away with it； all we needed to do was to connect it to the line wired around the reel that Aldo was holding。 He fastened the end of the line to the hoop securing to the kite with thread。
“Currently； clara；” said Aldo； gesturing for me to loose the kite。 “Go。”
Then the kite gained its height every moment Aldo let go of the line。 In less than a few minutes； it became a dot and we could barely tell where the tail or wing was。
Many people gathered around us in curiosity。 Aldo gave the reel to me to let me have a try。 I was hardly able to control the line when the reel kept circling； the kite got higher。 Aware of my lack of strength； Aldo said： “You can use the brake beside the handle。” He stretched out a hand to help me brake the line。
Time slipped away。 Soon it was time to have lunch。 Since I hadn’t tried pizza before； Aldo suggested us to eat in a newlyopened pizza hut。 Lisa thought we had better not eat so many fried or roast or grilled food in such a hot day； so we went to a Chinese restaurant and had our lunch。
A great feast（1）
Thursday； July 12； 2007
Considering I had never had a bite of pizza before and been parting long from Rachel； one of my best friends； mom decided to invite us including Rachel’s mother to eat in Pizza Hut。
Rachel（中文名：谢静瑶；我的好朋友之一）is the one I grow up
Pizza Hut is an extremely ritzy place in my mind because friends told me that three of them once spent RMB 189 there but they were not full at all。
When we stood in front of it； the glass door swung open at once； and a beautiful waitress said wele to us as she led us to the second floor。 The environment of the Pizza hut was indeed enjoyable。 It was lit by many small lamps on the ceiling。 These tables were laid with glittering china plates and polished knives and forks。 After we settled down at a square table； another young waitress emerged with two ornate menus。
Examining the menus in curiosity； Rachel and I discussed about food here animatedly。
“My friends told me there was a kind of dessert which tastes very delicious。 I want to find it out and order it。” Said Rachel； hastily checking the menu cover to cover； “Right； here it is “Firenze Tiramisu？ How does it taste？” “Oh； it has the chocolate flavor； with many tiers which mix cream； icecream and cake。” Then she turned to the waitress； “I want Firenze Tiramisu。” “Me too” I added quickly。
“Hey； what kind of pizza do you two prefer？” asked mom； helping us turn the menu to the particular page which contained various pizza； and all of them made you feel hungry at the sight of them。
“we would like the one boasts different flavors “the Super Supreme Pan Pizza will be suitable。” Mom told the waitress； “We want the 6 inches Super Supreme Pan Pizza。”
“We have a few specials on the menu these days。 And I strongly remend King Arthur’s Feast Pizza。” Said the waitress eagerly； “with lots of fresh toppings on the unique and crispy thin dough； every bite is delicious； allowing you total enjoyment。”
“King Arthur？” I said； raising my inquiring eyebrows。 “Isn’t he a fabled hero？”
“Yeah。” the waitress answered。 “We named this kind of Pizza based on King Arthur and the Round Table Knights legend。”
“OK； feast pizza is fine。” Mom said in conclusion。
“Right； a King Arthur’s Feast Pizza； two Tiramisu。 Anything else？” Asked the waitress while she was busy taking them down on the list。 “Don’t you want something to drink？
Then we ordered two Twin Berry Romance and two Kiwi Mango Rendezvous。 New Orleans Wings and Crispy Fried squid was ordered in case we would be hungry。 As for salad； we chose the selfservice one and a waiter gave us a small deep plate to load salad。 Rachel and I received the glorious task of loading salad as much as possible； for every plate could only be used once。
A great feast（2）
Carrying the small plate with us； we hurried to the selfservice salad spot。 There were plenty of ingredients including apples； watermelon； papaya； maize； grapes； cucumbers； love apples and so on。 Various exquisite dressings were also available。 This made us feel our responsibility was really huge； for if we were not careful enough； we could only fill the plate with a little fruit； which was not desirable at all。
We began to load our plate with fruits。 In order to make good use of the limited volume of the small plate； we decided to use the bricks of watermelon to build a wall on the edge of the plate； and then filled in everything we like。
Once the plan was done； we quickly took actions。 A tier of watermelon was perfectly pleted very soon； but it proved to be more difficult to build the second tier than we expected because the edge of the plate was not horizontal which meant the watermelon would easily collapse because it was not vertical。 It suddenly occurred to me that we could use the available dressings as cement to stick bricks of watermelon firmly。
Rachel spoke highly of my idea； and we successfully built a threetier watermelon wall by doing so。 The next things were much easier now； all we needed to do was to load fruits we liked to the plate through the hole from the top of the wall。
Scoops of various fruits were filled in。 We also used the scoop to spoon the dressings up and put it on top of our salad。
“There are still some small space； but not big enough to be filled with any pieces of fruits。 What a pity They charge us RMB 60 for the selfservice salad but give us such a small plate and we only can load once”
“Fet it； Rachel。 We are here to have a try and fun。 Don’t let it ruin your mood。 If it is too dear to bear； next time we can change another restaurant to enjoy ourselves。” replied I in a cool voice； “Since we chose the dish； our prior task is to make the full use of the tiny plate。”
“That’s right。” Rachel said； smiling； “I just want to； you know； plain a little and let out my anger。”
“What do you think of putting in some maize？” I suggested。 “Do you like maize？”
“Good idea” Rachel cheered； “You fill the plate with maize； and I’ll go to fetch some dried grapes。”
Minutes later； our wonderful salad was finished。 It looked like a tiny pagoda。 When Rachel carried it with great care； I went before her to make sure there was nobody in the way in order to guarantee the safety of our salad。 We drew everyone’s attention all the way to our table； whose mouth fell wide open； which made us even prouder of our masterpiece。
When we went back； all the dishes were already served on the table。 Inhaling the fragrant flavour； we couldn’t wait to tuck in。
Rachel’s mother was busy dividing the King Arthur’s Feast Pizza into pieces and distributing them among us。 I was enjoying Kiwi Mango Rendezvous while Rachel was trying Firenze Tiramisu hastily。
The food here was really delicious。 My drink； Kiwi Mango Rendezvous； was of agreeable sweetness and pleasant to the palate。 It was capable of relieving heat and thirst； too。 Firenze Tiramisu was also of unique Tiramisu flavour； and every bite was pleasant。
One hour later； the banquet was loaded in our stomachs。
My mobile phone
Sunday； July 15； 2007
Suddenly it was July 15th； it was not long before I would go to Guangzhou。 The looming departure was what I was longing for。 No wonder I couldn’t suppress my excitement。
Wanting to contact with me more conveniently； mom bought me a new mobile phone。 It was of Samsung brand； for mom was a keen fan for Samsung make and she used to own two Samsung mobile phones。 She insisted that Samsung is the leading provider of mobile phones and tele systems in the world； so when I was admiring a noble blue slider of Motorola； her face was gloomy and kept hinting me that Motorola was not as good as Samsung at all； making the assistant’s face as gloomy as hers。
Finally； I chose a mobile phone in a Samsung shop which mom steered me into。 It was styled as slider because I thought sliders were stylish and fashionable。 Although the assistant strongly remended a phone featured Touch Sensitive Keypad； saying： “Unlike ordinary keypads； Touch Sensitive Keys respond to just a light sweep of the fingers。 And the backlit keys automatically illuminate in blue when you slide up the phone。” I shook my head； for I saw no need of spending more 200 Yuan on the functions I didn’t need。
